She was killed after being raped, family and locals said
Asma Akter Amena was last seen alive when her friend brought fresh cloths to the shower. A short while after, her classmate did not find the girl in the shower and later discovered her hanging from the window grills of a room in the madrasa.
The incident occurred at Salimganj Jannatul Ferdous Girls’ Madrasa in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria Monday evening.
The 11-year-old was a resident student of sixth grade at the madrasa.
She was killed after being raped, family and locals said.
Police recovered the girl’s body and detained four teachers of the madrasa along with the headmaster later that night, in the face of protest among locals demanding justice for the girl.
The detained were later shown arrested yesterday in a case filed by the girl’s family members. They are: Headmaster Mawlana Golam Mostafa, and madrasa teachers Al-Amin, Anwar Hossain, and Younus Miah.
“After we were informed of the incident, we went to the madrasa and recovered the girl’s body. Her body was then sent to Sadar Hospital Morgue for autopsy,” said Ranajit Rai, officer-in-charge of Nabinagar police station.
The child’s mother filed a rape and murder case accusing six people. She broke into tears when she said that her daughter can never commit suicide. “She was brutally killed after being raped and then hanged to cover up the murder.”
When asked about the allegations, the OC said: “We are investigating the incident and we can comment on the matter after receiving the autopsy report.”
