Teenager Raped in Tangail

A 16  year old madrasa student was raped by two transport workers at Bhuapur upazila of Tangail on Friday night.

The rapists were arrested and presented before the court yesterday afternoon.

The victim is a first year student of fazil madrasa in the upazila.

According to the sources, the girl went to Bhuapur Bus Stand at around 9:30pm on Friday after she left home.

She was approached by the transport workers, who offered her a lift while she was waiting for a CNG to go to Elenga.

The girl rejected their offer and started walking off but was chased by the accused criminals who forcefully took her to near a brick kiln in Shialkhol area and raped her.

Locals came to her rescue hearing her screams. Mohammad Hitlar, 30, the truck helper was caught red-handed on the spot but Jahid Hossain, 32, driver of a power-tiller trailer managed to escaped.

Hitlar was arrested and interrogated which led the police to Jahid.

Md Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Bhuapur Police Station said that the victim’s father filed a case yesterday.

The victim was sent to Tangail General Hospital for medical tests and the rapists were sent to jail upon the court’s verdict.
