Agreement to build 16 One-stop Crisis Centers
On Tuesday State Minister for Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki and Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Mikael Hemniti Winther signed an agreement to establish 16 one stop crisis centers at public medical college hospitals across Bangladesh.
Danish government is going to allocate 27.6 crore taka for the project. The crisis centers will have doctors, lawyers, psychologists to provide all kind of services.
Bangladeshi government is going to bear 75% of the total project and the rest is supported by Danish government. The Danish government has been assisting to establish One-stop Crisis Centers in Bangladesh since 2000. Under the project there will be one-stop crisis centers in eight medical college hospitals, 40 district Sadar Hospitals and 20 Upazila Health Complexes.
Bangladesh government is working relentlessly to stop violence against women. They even launched a confidential helpline service available for 24 hours a day under National Helpline Center for Violence against Women and Children.
