Bangladeshi women’s decision-making autonomy and its effect on contraceptive behavior

Women’s decision-making power in household has strong influence on their choice and use of contraceptives which in turn affect their ability to control reproductive health. A study conducted by Rahman, Mostofa and Hoque (2014), published in Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare, explores women’s decision making autonomy as a potential indicator of the use of contraception in Bangladesh.

Results of this study indicate that household decision-making autonomy is significantly associated with current use of modern contraception, future intention to use contraception and discussion with husband regarding contraception options.
