Testing alternative approaches to reduce child marriage
Child Marriage is currently the most important public health concern for Bangladesh, which affects also maternal and child health outcomes in later life. This study was conducted by researchers from Duke University, JPAL, IPA and EPoD. The researchers found that unlike conventional incentive programs which focus on only providing incentive to keep the girls in schools, this program had the wider coverage and included also out of school girls as it gave incentive on the basis of unmarried girls only. The researchers also found that there was a 10% increase in girls staying in school as a result of this intervention.
