About the organisation

The Youth Organization for Social Development (YOSD) is a government-approved, non-profit, non-political, and women-empowered voluntary organization led by youth in Bangladesh. Established in 2015, the organization operates under the Department of Youth Development (DYD) of the Government of Bangladesh.

Core Focus Areas

YOSD works extensively with children, youth, and women to build a more resilient and inclusive society through several community-based initiatives:

  • Humanitarian Aid & Emergency Response: Provides critical on-the-ground support—such as cash assistance, emergency dry food, clean drinking water, and clothing—to vulnerable and flood-affected communities.
  • Education & Livelihood Support: Connects at-risk families with long-term recovery plans, focusing on child education and generating sustainable income sources.
  • Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS): Integrates mental well-being initiatives alongside structural physical recovery.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Collaborates with international bodies like the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on regional conservation projects, including beach cleanups and local disaster preparedness planning.
  • Social Justice & Inclusion: Advocates strongly for youth leadership, gender equality, and disability inclusion across marginalized groups.

Primary Operational Regions

While its foundational network covers multiple districts, the organization's emergency and field teams are highly active across climate-vulnerable zones, particularly within Ukhia and Cox's Bazar.
