About the organisation

Youth Net for Climate Justice (YNCJ), is the largest grassroots, youth-led climate justice organization in Bangladesh. Led by Executive Coordinator Sohanur Rahman, the network empowers young people to lead climate advocacy, promote sustainable development, and demand accountability from policymakers.  
Core Mission and Focus Areas
  • Climate Advocacy: Mobilizing youth for global climate strikes demanding energy transition updates and accountability.
  • Just Transition: Championing equitable green job creation and integrating youth interests into policy frameworks.
  • Policy Inclusion: Introducing child- and youth-sensitive indices to climate policies like Bangladesh's NDC 3.0.
  • Grassroots Resilience: Supporting vulnerable communities, such as coastal groups and riverine char regions, through localized resource mobilization.
  • Climate Finance: Campaigning for grant-based, transparent funding and loss-and-damage reparations rather than debt. 
Notable Initiatives & Campaigns
  • Y-Just Initiative: A collaboration with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Bangladesh to gather community-level insights on green futures.
  • #SolveLeadPollution Campaign: An environmental health drive focused on reducing toxic lead exposure in local ecosystems.
  • Eco Olympiad: An annual environmental literacy project aimed at building climate awareness among youth.
  • The ReWet Project: An outreach partnership addressing urban flooding and restoring wetlands in Dhaka.
