About the organisation

Voice of Poor People (VPP) is a youth-focused, non-governmental socio-economic development organization actively implementing various community welfare programs in the Sherpur District of Bangladesh. Established in 2007 through the initiative of a group of innovative and enthusiastic social and cultural activists from diverse sectors, the organization is officially registered under the Department of Social Services Registration No: SHER/00550.

Our Vision is to create a strong, independent society free from inequalities and discrimination, where everyone enjoys equal opportunities. Our Mission is to empower disadvantaged communities, especially women, adolescents, and children in both urban and rural areas of Bangladesh. We achieve this by enhancing their living capacities for poverty reduction, establishing their rights, promoting a gender-friendly environment, and fostering social justice toward good governance.

Major Areas of Work:

We design and execute targeted grassroots initiatives across several key development sectors:

  • Youth Leadership & Skills Development: Building youth capacities, fostering leadership, and providing essential skill-building opportunities to empower the next generation.
  • Climate Action, Environment & Biodiversity: Running environmental protection campaigns, biodiversity conservation drives, and climate change education and adaptation programs.
  • Energy Transition & Climate Justice: Advocating for climate justice and promoting clean energy alternatives through renewable energy initiatives.
  • Gender Equality & Diversity:

Advancing gender equality, celebrating gender diversity, and cultivating safer, inclusive, and gender-friendly spaces.

  • Women, Child Rights & Early Childhood Development (ECD): Supporting women’s empowerment, protecting child rights, and implementing foundational early childhood development programs.
  • Disability Rights & Development: Promoting social inclusion, accessibility, and equal rights for persons with disabilities.
  • Policy Advocacy: Conducting evidence-based advocacy campaigns to influence local governance and policy frameworks for the betterment of marginalized groups.
