Founded in 1986 by Abdul Hamid Bhuiya and a group of socially committed individuals in Tangail, Society for Social Service (SSS) began with a single purpose: to uplift underprivileged families through economic empowerment. Over nearly four decades, that purpose has grown into one of Bangladesh's most comprehensive development efforts, combining inclusive financial services with healthcare, education, vocational training, agriculture, disaster response, environmental conservation, and women's empowerment. Every program is built on the same principle: that communities, given the right support, can transform their own lives.

Today, SSS operates across 56 districts through 880 branch offices with more than 8,618 staff members, reaching over 1.2 million families. The organization runs its own hospital, eye department, 48 primary health care centers, schools, children's homes, and technical training institutes. Recognized nationally with awards from Citi Group, ICAB, and ICMAB, and holding an AA2 credit rating from CRAB, SSS has earned its place as a trusted companion of development and justice in Bangladesh.
