About the organisation

IMSEN Bangladesh, officially known as the International Medical Students’ Empowerment Network Bangladesh, is a non-profit, voluntary, and non-political organization founded in 2015 by medical and dental students. Operating under the motto *"Empowering Medicos,"* the organization boasts a growing network of over 5,000 members spanning across 65 government and non-government medical colleges throughout key divisions in Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Rajshahi, and Chittagong. Structurally, IMSEN is driven by specialized national councils, including the National Council of Research & Education (NCRE), the National Council of Project & Innovation (NCPI), and the National Council of Visibility & Communication (NCVC).
The network is deeply committed to driving systemic change through a wide array of activities focused on education, public health, capacity building, and humanitarian outreach. IMSEN frequently organizes extensive public health and awareness campaigns targeting critical issues such as breast and cervical cancer, diabetes, antibiotic resistance, and menstrual hygiene. To enhance the professional competence of future doctors, they conduct foundational research training through their signature *SCOREsearch* programs (versions 1.0 to 4.0), alongside basic surgical skills, medical ethics, and emergency CPR training. Furthermore, IMSEN actively engages in crucial humanitarian work—such as supporting flood-affected communities in North Bengal (2017) and Feni/Laksam (2024), providing aid to Rohingya migrants, and coordinating healthcare initiatives for underprivileged children and the elderly.
Collaborating closely with prominent national and international bodies like icddr,b, the Society of Surgeons of Bangladesh, and EducationUSA, IMSEN routinely co-hosts major national events, such as the 10th International Public Health Conference and the 1st National Youth Cancer Congress. Their crown jewel event is the Bangladesh International Medical Students' Scientific Congress (**BIMSSCON**), an annual international scientific conference designed to showcase student innovation and foster global medical leadership.
