Amra Notun Network (ANN)
About the organisation
Amra Notun Network (ANN) is a flagship youth empowerment and social development platform in Bangladesh, launched and managed by the BRAC Youth Platform. Operating as a network for university-level students and recent graduates aged 18 to 30, it equips the next generation with essential leadership and problem-solving skills to tackle structural community challenges.
Core Objectives & Structure
The network operates as an incubation program divided into three progressive phases designed to guide youth through community development:
- Phase 1: Capacity Building & Training: Participants undergo targeted workshops focusing on mental health, empathetic leadership, public storytelling, climate change awareness, and building an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Phase 2: Community Action Projects (CAP): Cohort teams spend two months researching localized social issues, brainstorming solutions, and launching real-world community development projects.
- Phase 3: Alumni Network & Fellowship: Graduates enter a broader, lifelong network of changemakers. Outstanding social entrepreneurship projects can receive funding through resources like the BRAC Social Entrepreneurs Fellowship.
Network Impact & Reach
The platform has achieved significant structural scale across Bangladesh's youth community:
- Footprint: Actively operates across 17 major districts (including initial pilots in Dhaka, Khulna, Cox's Bazar, and Rangpur).
- Enrollment: More than 2,600 young leaders have received formal training under the network.
- Community Initiatives: Youth cohorts have launched and sustained over 270 community-led projects focusing primarily on gender inclusion, climate adaptation, public health awareness, and educational equity.
- Prestigious Recognition: Distinct program alumni have gone on to receive accolades from organizations such as NASA, the United Nations, and the Gates Foundation.
