Lal Sabuj Society, founded in 2015, is a non-profit youth organization dedicated to societal progress through initiatives in youth skill enhancement, climate action, mental health, women and child protection, and journalism.

The roots of Lal Sabuj Society trace back to 2010 when the founder, Tahsin Uddin, then an eighth-grader, wrote a satirical piece about a school teacher as a response to severe punishment. Encouraged by his aunt, he launched the children’s magazine, Monthly Lal Sabuj, with his friend Fahim. Using their savings, they published the first 50 copies with just 300 Taka. Initially photocopied, the magazine evolved into a glossy four-page tabloid, addressing youth issues and achieving a peak circulation of 3,000 copies.

Tahsin’s writing instilled a sense of social responsibility, prompting action beyond journalism. In 2012, he and his peers initiated a project to gift Eid clothes to underprivileged children, transparently funded with the support of the District Commissioner. This act marked the beginning of their commitment to social change, leading to the official formation of Lal Sabuj Society in 2015. The organization then expanded its initiatives to include self-defense training for girls, bicycle training, debate workshops, and journalism training.
