School Girl Raped & Murdered

A 9 year old school girl was murdered after being raped in Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari on Saturday.

Kirtika Tripura Purna was a student at Noimail Government Primary School in the upazila.

Kritika left school for lunch break, according to the locals.

But when her mother, Onumoti Tripura, a widowed farmer went home, Kritika was not there.

Onumoti searched everywhere in the village for her daughter but could not find her.

The locals recovered Kritika’s body around midnight from a forest which is near the village.

The body was sent to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Assistant Sub-inspector Abdul Jabbar of Dighinala Police Station said, the body had stabs in different places.

Onumoti filed a murder case and the OC said they are trying to arrest the culprits.

Locals blocked the Khagrachhari-Dighinala road in Noimail area around 8 in the morning protesting the murder. The road was cleared after the local MP Kujendra Lal Tripura along with district’s top police officials assured justice.

In the last three months, at least five girls have been raped in the hilly district.
