Op-ed article on menstrual health published
Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is a highly significant yet neglected topic in the social milieu of Bangladesh. Even though menstrual health can play a crucial role in ensuring gender equality and female emancipation, and thus playing a vital role in terms of the country’s overall socioeconomic progress, unfortunately it is a topic of stigma and taboo here. Hence, one of the key objectives of Share-Net Bangladesh is to help improve this situation. Share-Net Bangladesh is currently developing a resource document which aims to help local organisations in order to secure more funds for the MHM interventions. Besides, RedOrange Media and Communications, the secretariat of Share-Net Bangladesh, runs a project named “Alor Jatra” to ensure an MHM-friendly environment at schools for girls with disabilities through raising and creating awareness on MHM. In fact, Share-Net is working to make sure that all efforts are made from all levels involving communities of practice (CoPs). In view of the entire context of MHM in Bangladesh, Masuma Billah and Farah Nusrat from Share-Net Bangladesh have written an exclusive op-ed article in the Daily Star.
