Empowering Change Through Data: UNFPA Seeks IT Consultant for Gender Norm-Shift Programme in Bangladesh

UNFPA Bangladesh is inviting applications for a highly qualified National Consultant (NOB level) to support the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA) in the implementation of the Norm-Shift Accelerator Programme – Shombhabona. In order to combat child marriage and promote adolescent empowerment across Bangladesh, this transformative project seeks to alter deeply ingrained gender and societal norms.
Your Impact:
You will play an important in creating and putting into place a strong data system to track, monitor, and evaluate this multi-tiered program in your capacity as the IT consultant. The system will facilitate evidence-based, real-time decision-making and offer insights into the efficacy of large-scale programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design a centralised database of programme participants with strong ethical protections.
- Develop an integrated analytical pipeline for descriptive, inferential, and research-based analysis.
- Create an interoperable integration layer to combine data from five key sources.
- Design a real-time dashboard to show results and visualise progress with user-friendly interfaces.
- Use mixed-method data collection to ensure the system is prepared for implementation research.
- Train stakeholders and deliver comprehensive user documentation.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
In addition to having strong technical skills, the ideal applicant for this role should be passionate about social change. With a background in Computer Science or Data Science and experience in data systems, he or she would provide not only expertise but also would bring a dedication to developing tools and solutions that would improve communities. The ideal candidate must comprehend gender and development, the ethical use of data, and the socioeconomic realities that Bangladeshi youth and adolescents face. Someone who views data not just as numbers but as a means to convey stories, shape policy, and bring about transformative change in the lives of women and children is needed for this position.
