Fake doctor, aides ‘serving’ hijras arrested

A fake doctor named Mohammad Hadiuzzaman was arrested because he was acting as a doctor and performing unauthorized operations on the Hijra and other Gender-Diverse people. He is accused of performing Castration and other Gender affirmation services at a place called Laser Beauty Parlor in Malibagh.

According to the first information report (FIR) submitted to Shahjahanpur Police Station, the facility offered hormone therapy, botox, and silicone breast implants in addition to castrations. Mishu Biswas, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Ramna) of the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they raided because they were not authorized to carry out these operations.

According to the FIR, “They used to abuse and deceive people of the ‘third gender’ by pretending to be physicians when they are not, and by providing various unlawful treatments including skin-bleaching, silicone breast implants, and various cosmetic surgeries.” Mohammad Hadiuzzaman, 45, Sonia Khatun, 25, Mohammad Nur Islam, 30, and Mohammad Johnny Ahmed, 33, are the individuals who have been arrested.
