A comprehensive approach to care is needed to improve the quality of life after surgical repair of obstetric fistula
Obstetric fistula can occur as a serious complication of prolonged obstructed labour. In 2012, a cross-sectional study was conducted of women who had undergone a successful surgical repair of an obstetric fistula at a hospital in northwest Bangladesh between June 2005, and May 2012. Several factors, such as discrimination, physical and mental health outcomes etc., influence health-related QOL after obstetric fistula repair; a comprehensive approach is needed to address these issues.
