Unheard sexual violence during shopping.

Harassments in crowded shopping places like new market and gausia have been going on for a long time. We hear stories of molestations but hardly any complaints are filed against the alleged individuals’.

An article published in Dhaka Tribune, investigated to find out why there are no official complaints filed yet.

A woman was harassed while shopping for shoes in new market recently.

“The shopkeeper spoke something offensive which I cannot repeat. I felt so bad that I immediately returned home,” the woman said to the reporters.

When asked why she did not file a case, she said, “I did not want my husband or others in the family to know about it. I wanted to avoid complications.”

Most of the women let go of these horrifying incidents they experience to avoid further harassment and also to refrain involvement of their family members.
