RCC’s Short Film Competition Ends
The award giving ceremony of “Jiboner Golpe Cinema Banai”, a short-film competition, was held on Dec 19 at Chayanot.
The competition was initiated to create wider engagement with a critical segment of young people to increase awareness regarding SRHR among young women and girls, as well as young men and boys and people from different communities.
“Living Dolls” by Mazharul Islam Saikat, “Cosmic Story” by H. M. Mostak Hasan and “Aggyatsware” by Musrat Jahan were selected to be the top three films, who received prize money announced beforehand, along with crests and certificates.
Following the top three, seven other short films were also selected by jury members of eminent personalities, out of 117 submissions.
The initiative was part of the Swedish organisation for Sexuality Education – RFSU funded Recognizing Consent and Choice (RCC) project, led by the Bangladesh Legal Aid Services and Trust (BLAST) with the James P. Grant School of Public Health of BRAC University.
The aim of the project was to increase capacity and awareness on issues of consent and choice in the context of SRHR among key stakeholders (legal, SRHR practitioners, researchers and young people).
Media partners were The Daily Samakal and Bangla Tribune, while The Daily Star was the Youth Engagement Partner of the event.
