Why do we need to empower child brides?

The Bangla Daily and Initiative for Married Adolescent Girl’s Empowerment jointly organized a national level round table discussion at the Prothom Alo’s office in the capital city.

The executive director of Ain O Salish Kendra, Sultana Kamal said, “When a child is forced to get married, she remains unprepared for the new situation, and for that she fails to fulfill the expectations and eventually in many cases she faces torture.” She also states that early marriage is a violation of human rights.
