Launching Ceremony of ‘Peer Education 101: For Us by Us’ | Strengthening the CSE Ecosystem in Bangladesh
Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) among school students has been a necessity for quite a long time. To understand the areas of SRHR, one of the Share-Net International Small Grants 2020 Winner, a training manual book titled “Peer Education 101: For Us by Us” was launched on Thursday, 11th March 2021. Joined by leading policy makers, technical experts, students and peer educators, the launching ceremony was organised by Kotha and Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC) who jointly developed the training manual.
The event aimed to energize the conversation around CSE in Bangladesh while keeping young people at the heart of the conversation.
Three leading policy makers, Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, Executive Chairman, PPRC, Shaheen Alam, Executive Director, Manusher Jonno Foundation, and Asa Torkelsson, Representative for Bangladesh, UNFPA joined at the ceremony. A group of discussants also brought in a wealth of knowledge, as well as the young students.
Kotha believes in CSE that focuses on unlearning stereotypes, changing mindsets, and modeling good behavior helps tackle root causes, and is thus an effective long-term solution to gender-based violence. The launching of this book expands Kotha’s role in policy advocacy.
Founded in 2016, Kotha is a feminist organisation, committed to fight against the culture of gender-based violence through primary interventions. They work at the intersection of education, policy advocacy, youth perspective research and arts. PPRC is a Dhaka-based leading policy research center.
