3 minors raped, one pregnant

A 5-year-old child, a 14-year-old physically challenged girl, and a 5th grader are among the survivors.

Two minors have allegedly been raped in separate incidents on Monday, while a third has reported her rape six months after, on Tuesday.

On Monday, a five-year-old girl was raped In Panchagarh, and a physically challenged 14-year old girl was also raped in Madaripur. In Narsingdi, the family of a fifth grader pregnant from rape filed a case on Tuesday.

The fifth grader from Narsingdi’s Belabo upazila is six months pregnant after she was raped by a college teacher.

The rape survivor’s family filed a written allegation, First Information Report (FIR), with Belabo police station on Tuesday.

According to local sources, Md Dulal Mian, lecturer at Shibpur Kamartek Sabuj Pahar Degree College, had gone to visit his neighbour in Uzila village six months ago, where he found the house empty except for the girl.

They added that he tied her up and brutally raped her. Her mother came home to discover her in critical condition.

“When I came home, I found her in a pool of blood,” her mother said.

“When we confronted Dulal, he threatened to kill us or set us on fire if we ever went to the police. But now, my young daughter is pregnant and I want justice,” she added.

Belabo police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zabed Mahmud on Tuesday confirmed the family had filed a written allegation. “We are trying to arrest Dulal and a case is being filed.”

In Madaripur, a physically challenged 14-year old girl was allegedly raped in Kalkini upazila on Monday.

According to family sources, Alamgir Gharami, 40, son of Asmat Gharami of Sastal village, offered the girl some chocolate and lured her into a nearby wooded area.

He raped her and ran away, leaving her bloodied and confused before the family found her. The survivor was admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital Tuesday noon.

Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police Badrul Alam said police were trying to arrest Alamgir.

In Panchagarh district, a five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbor in Sadar upazila, on Monday.

According to local sources, Johny, son of Dulal Hossain in Prodhanpara area, took the child to a garden and raped her there.

The survivor’s family found the child bloodied and in a critical condition and admitted her to the Sadar hospital.

Panchagarh police station OC Abu Akkas Ahmed said they were investigating the incident.
