Women’s Rights Activists Demand Arresting Rapists in Mymensingh
The increasing cases of rapes and stalking in Mymensingh made the women right activists demand immediate arrest of the criminals.
A press conference was organized by Bangladesh Mohila Parishad’s Mymensingh unit at the press club where the activists expressed their concerns.
The activists said, criminals of these heinous are moving around freely even after months of committing the crime.
They said, situation did not improve even after carrying out protests or submitting memorandums to the administration.
Parishad Secretary Fahmida Yeasmin Runa presented five incidents of crime before the audience.
The family members of the victims along with Parishad President Monira Begum Anu and its vice presidents Saleha Hossain and Lila Roy were present at the press conference.
SA Newazi, additional police superintendent (crime) in Mymensingh, said, “Police have already arrested many of the accused in the above-mentioned cases. Drives are on so all the accused can be arrested soon.”
“We already have opened a cell to assist the child and woman victims,” he added.
