About the organisation
Ashar Alo Society (AAS) is the self-help group organizations of PLHIV especially women and children focus organization and has experienced rights-based projects such as Violence Against Women (VAW) funded by UNAIDS, Vulnerable Women Empowerment funded by Unicef and UNDP, child protection and rights-based program funded by Save the Children International and capacity development of small self-help groups organizations such as Somporker Noya Shetu (SNS), Natun Jibon, Sex workers Network. More than 70% of members of the organizational board are women and they are of different ages and different professional or groups such as sex workers, Hijra/ Transgender, MSM etc.
AAS always maintains or applies feminist, rights-based principles and approaches during the staff recruitment, development of any committee etc. Such as 70% of women are the board members of AAS and a total 23 staff are available at AAS, among them, 16 are female staff. AAS has been separated toilets, prayer room for the women.
SRHR publications/research
Ashar Alo Society(AAS) has a lot of working experience on SRHR. AAS has implemented a project named Link Up: Better Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) for Young People funded by International Alliance where 13 organizations were partners and target groups were MSM, TG, Garments workers, PLHIV, Sex workers, and aged were between 14-25 years.
AAS has experience in research such as Stigma Index, Assessment on COVID-19 Impact among the PLHIV. etc.
