SDG Gender Index 2019
Equal Measures believes that real changes in gender equality laws, policies and budget allocations will follow if-
• we provide increased access to data, analysis, and tools on the progress towards the SDGs affecting girls and women, and;
• girls’ and women’s movements, advocates, and champions have greater skills and capacity to use data effectively, and;
• girls’ and women’s movements, advocates, and champions lead powerful data‑driven influencing campaigns.
The 2019 SDG Gender Index enables us to tell a story of global progress, as well as being a tool that gender advocates can use to frame their influencing on the gender equality elements of the SDGs. It provides a snapshot of where the world stands, right now, linked to the vision of gender equality set forth by the 2030 Agenda. It measures the state of gender equality aligned to 14 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 129 countries in five regions and 51 issues ranging from health, gender-based violence, climate change, decent work and others. Overall, the index finds that, across all the goals and indicators studied, no country has fully achieved the promise of gender equality.
