Restricting women’s movement: Violence in transportation

In urban cities, more and more women have to venture out for education and employment. However, they are faced with violence while going about their daily life. Two researchers, one from UK and another from Nepal, have conducted this review on violence against women in transportation, the review conveys important insight to this issue. Sexual violence in public transport is one of such violence that is extremely invisible in the society due to high rates of under-reporting, so nationally this issue has not been acknowledged yet in Bangladesh. Therefore, a consequence of this violence not only confined women’s life but also created a hostile environment towards empowerment.
