Proposal: Use budget funds to prevent violence against women
Bangladesh Economic Association(BEA) urges the government to allocate Taka1000cr from next year’s national budget for measures to prevent violence against women. . Prof. Dr. Abul Barakat, president of BEA presented the recommendation along with 90 other recommendations for ensuring women’s rights.
“Identifying the fact that women have fundamental rights, necessary steps should be taken in the national budget to implement this. This includes ensuring social security, equality and the ability to access justice that needs a specific budget allocation.” Barakat said.
He also suggested the government to upgrade the education quality stating that the system lacks scientific approach and so, unemployed generation gets engaged in communal violence.
“We recommend they remove this divide in the education sector and introduce a standardized model by increasing the budget.”
