Mother from Bangladesh among BBC’s ‘100 Women 2018’
A picture if Sima Sarker, ,carrying her 18 year old disabled son to the examination hall during Dhaka University’s admission exam for 2018-2019 session immediately went viral on the internet among various social platforms.
She has been included in BBC’s ‘100 Women 2018’, being the second woman from Bangladesh to have her name on the list. In 2013, Rubana Haq, a Bangladeshi entrepreneur, writer and philanthropist was the first woman from Bangladesh to be on the list.
Sima Sarker, 44, was included in the list as a mother who had to carry her 18-year-old disabled son to an examination centre every year, and whose story later went viral, reports BBC.
BBC’s list of 100 women every year includes inspirational and influential women from all around the world in various fields. Some of those influential names include Peruvian author Isabel Allende, Chelsea Clinton, vice-chairman of the Clinton Foundation, Russian model Svetlena Alekseeva, and others.
