Girl gets Gonorrhea in her Eye
BBC News reported that a girl, Jess, contracted gonorrhoea in her eye. Gonorrhoea can be transmitted from one person to another via unprotected sexual intercourse, oral sex or even touch. Jess’s gonorrhoea was successfully treated with one course of antibiotics. Gonorrhoea does not show any symptoms initially, especially in women. Some of the later symptoms involve burning and stinging while passing urine, as well as subfertility or infertility.
Dr Taz Rashid, a sexual health doctor, reported that easy access to sex with multiple people puts them at a higher risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections. Dating apps enable people to have sex with anonymous people. One of the worst reported cases according to BBC News was that of a man who met a woman in Thailand via a dating app and had sex with her. He later contracted gonorrhoea in the throat which could not be treated.
