Empowering Girls to End Child Marriage
Sustainable development goals include elimination of child marriage which will give opportunities girls to rewrite their future.
This year, The Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage is launched by UNFPA and UNICEF where many girls will be working together to end such practices. This five years program will support more than 2.5 million adolescent girls who are at risk of, and affected by child marriage by helping them to express and exercise their choices.
In the report it says, “It will empower girls in South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Nepal), the Middle East (Yemen), West and Central Africa (Burkina Faso, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Niger), Eastern and Southern Africa (Ethiopia, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia) with protective health, social and economic independence, and ensure that they can develop their abilities, so as to realize their full potential.”
