AdSEARCH by icddr,b presents “National SRHR Conference 2023”

In association with Share-Net Bangladesh and IPAS, AdSEARCH by icddr,b is going to organise the National Conference 2023: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Bangladesh. To facilitate, debate, and document the collective knowledge and ideas nationally on selective SRHR issues, the theme of this conference has been narrated as “Showcasing Research through Ideas, Ingenuity and Innovations”. The conference aims to impact a wider audience regarding SRHR by collaborating with policymakers, youth and practitioners.

The Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) by icddr,b, supported by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is working towards a significant milestone in assessing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) needs and navigating them in Bangladesh. With a focus on innovation and invention, AdSEARCH is developing and testing a wide range of novel products, from ICT-based and technological innovations to behaviour, process, and health systems modifications. Testing over 20 ideas with a total innovation grant of over $3 million Canadian dollars, AdSEARCH is one of the largest innovation hubs in the country.

Conducting 50+ studies on selective SRHR themes, AdSEARCH is also the most comprehensive attempt to assess the SRHR needs and navigation of adolescent girls, recently married couples, pregnant women, and women involved in the ready-made garments sector. In addition, the project is collaborating with the Ministry of Health to conduct a national health facility survey on SRHR. AdSEARCH is testing the first national registers on High-Risk Pregnancy, Fistula, and Cervical Cancer, and conducting a comprehensive landmark study to assess the SRH burden among key populations. AdSEARCH’s studies and activities are carried out across the country with an ambition to play a significant impact beyond borders for a more equitable world.

To facilitate, debate, and document the collective knowledge, evidence, and ideas on selective SRHR issues, AdSEARCH by icddr,b is organising the National Conference 2023: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Bangladesh | Showcasing Research through Ideas, Ingenuity, and Innovations (NCSRHR2023) on 3 May 2023 at InterContinental Dhaka. The conference aims to impact a wider audience regarding SRHR by collaborating with policymakers, youth, and practitioners. In light of this, the conference will generate discussions and dialogues around the following sub-themes:

  • Health of Adolescents and Young People
  • Fertility
  • Maternal and Newborn Health
  • Gynecological Issues and Sexual Health
  • Sexual and Reproductive Health of Key Populations (KPs)
  • Nutrition among Adolescents and Pregnant Women

The conference called for papers against the relevant themes and topics and is welcoming SRH experts for topical presentations, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions. Governments, international and bilateral organisations, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, and the media will all be represented by groups working on national SRHR concerns that will be represented by participants.

Fostering innovation that is built around evidence-based study is a critical component of AdSEARCH and NCSRHR2023 has called out for innovations to tackle SRHR issues from the young minds of Bangladesh, to showcase, and fund ground-breaking and cutting-edge innovations along with awarding the best oral presentations.
