Job Description

IBTCI/ACME is seeking a Gender Specialist for its Women’s Empowerment Activity (WEA). The objective of WEA is increasing women’s empowerment and gender parity in five districts within the Feed the Future Zone of Influence (FTF ZOI). To achieve this goal, WEA supported 30,000 women in 1,350 communities through increased contributions to production, access to markets, and improving household wellbeing. WEA is aligned with the Development Objective (DO) 2 of the USAID’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) focusing improvement of food security.

This is a short-term consulting opportunity, approximately 44 days of full-time engagement during mid-April through June 2017. This positions will require 5-6 weeks of work in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with some travel anticipated within other areas of Bangladesh.

Responsibilities:

The Gender Specialist will:

Participate in team meetings, key informant interviews, group meetings, site visits, and draft the sections of the report relevant to his/her expertise and role in the team;
Participate in presenting the report to USAID or other stakeholders and be responsible for addressing pertinent comments provided by USAID/Bangladesh or other stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:

A postgraduate degree in gender studies, development, or a relative discipline;
International specialist with minimum 8 years of experience of progressive professional experience in gender analysis and programming;
Very good understanding about USAID MEL requirements;
Demonstrated knowledge of the latest developments in advancing best practices in promotion of women’s empowerment, including training curriculum development and delivery; Behavioral Change Communication (BCC).
