Awareness can prevent breast cancer

Speakers at a seminar on Breast Cancer in Bangladesh said about 95% breast cancers can be cured if they are detected early and treated properly. They also said knowledge about the deadly disease has increased over the last decade.
Dr Habibullah Talukder, a noted oncologist of the country, presented a keynote paper. He addressed the rise in breast cancer among women, and also mentioned the availability of its cure at an early stage in Bangladesh. Women are encourage to go to government hospitals if any symptom of breast cancer shows.
“It is necessary to raise awareness among women so that they can visit public hospitals,” Dr Talukder added.
The programme was organized by Bangladesh Cancer Society and Development Partners in the city on Jan 5.
