PM inaugurates Child Rights Week 2016
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called for the creation of a society which treats every child equally and without discrimination.
In observance of World Children’s Day on Monday, the PM addressed several issues the country needs to fight and highlighted several implementations that the government is taking in order to develop proper environment for children.
The day also marked the inauguration of Child Rights Week, which is to be held from September 29-October 5 of this year. The PM called upon the affluent section of the society to step forward and ensure food, clothes and support for underprivileged children.
She also stated that textbooks were being distributed free of cost among students from primary to secondary level, along with the the implementation of ‘mid-day meals’, digital libraries, multimedia classrooms and mini stadiums in order to engage students with sports and cultural activities to motivate them to stay in school.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze also spoke at the event among others.
